What will the screen look like?

We recommend that new customers look in our gallery as a starting point. If you have something more unique in mind, just ask, we can probably make it work. We will ask you to send us your logo and color schemes. And we can get most information from your website. Changing the colors, content, etc. is all included in our service -- we can always adjust that later if needed.

Which profile is right for my dealership?

The "right" profile will depend on where the screen is going and what your goal is. We have narrowed down our profiles to about 10 different systems with goals of each. For instance, we designed the Showroom Profile because it fits best on large screens that would go best in a showroom. On the other hand, the Service Price List can be used as a welcome screen in the dealership as well -- replacing banners, handouts, posters, etc.

And if you have a special place for the screen and a design in mind, let's work with that. We are proud to provide a CUSTOM profile for you AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.

What happens if I want to change the way the screen looks?

Changing the content, colors, backgrounds, marketing messages, etc. are all INCLUDED in the service. We don't charge or nickel and dime on such changes.

On the other hand changing the actual profile is a very time consuming process. If it's during the first 30 days of your agreement, then there is no charge. If that happens later, there may be additional charges as stated in the agreement.

How can the screen be customized?

Each system is customized for your dealership in every detail - down to the borders around each image. If you want a picture of your dealership as the background, we can do that. Your logo, your branding, your specials, all are on your screen.

We use generic content that we have made for the franchise vehicles. Other then that, it's all customized for your needs and the location of the system in your dealership.

And we take care of it for you! We do not require you to login to an additional service to update the screen. Consider us a digital signage concierge.

What TV's work with your system?

Most of today's current TV's meet our minimum requirements of HDMI Input and 720x1280 (720P) Resolution. Although we recommend professional monitors, your standard consumer television will work. Our system supports TRUE HD up to 1080P. As part of the agreement process, we ask questions to make sure the system is set to maximize the benefits of your TV.

Do I need to purchase new TV's?

That will depend on your current TV's. If you have tube TV's or TV's that don't handle our minimum specifications, then yes. But in reality -- you probably needed to upgrade those TV's anyway because your customers expect a better visual experience. Customers expect bright and shiny cars -- and televisions.

You may also consider purchasing professional monitors which are ideal for digital signage and don't have the burn-in of consumer televisions.

What's the difference between commercial and consumer TV's?

In general, consumer TV's are great for the standard viewing time of 4 hours a day. Once you increase the viewing time, it reduces the life of the screen. Commercial Monitors are designed to run for 24 hours a day. Since they are designed to this specification, they do no show burn-in and normally come with a generous warranty.

What is TRUE HD?

TRUE HD is the ability of our system to be in the highest resolution available today - 1080P. When we make a system for your 1080P screen, every graphic and image is made in high resolution for the brightest, crispest experience.

While our competitors are satisfied utilizing 480P and scaling it to fit your HD screen, the results are fuzzy and not taking advantage of the beautiful image that the TV provides. Here is a way to compare:

480P = VCR
720P = DVD
1080P = Blu-Ray

What is a media player?

The Digital Dealership System uses a customized computer referred to a Media Player. The media player is connected to your television with an HDMI cable and to the internet either wirelessly or through standard CAT5 Ethernet connection. For simplicity and reliability, we recommend hard-wiring your system.

How long will it take my system to arrive?

After your order is placed, we will call you to review the profile setup and request all your information. Once we receive this information and the initial invoice is satisfied, we will ship your system within 7-10 days. At that point, your system is ready to install and you will be up and running within minutes.

How does the system work?

The system is configured and tested in our offices before we ship them. Once received and connected to the Internet, we can access and update as needed. The system does not stream information, instead it looks for updates online for any changes to the content and then stores that locally. If you ever lose connectivity, the screen will play the last information shown until it can update.

Such variable content as news feeds and weather rely on connectivity for accuracy. If the availability of this content ever fails, it may go blank.

If you have updates for the system -- it's as easy as shooting us an email. Based on the workload, we usually can address content changes within 24 hours. On the other hand, if there is an emergency, contact us by phone or email stating the exact situation and what you have tried to do to resolve any issues.

We utilize two different monitoring solutions that allow us to "see" and login to the system as needed.

Who's responsible for the system?

While you are ultimately responsible for the hardware, we are here to help. Usually, any issues that happen can be minimized and are caused by preventable maintenance. If the media player fails and we are unable to fix it remotely, we will ask that you send it to us and we will send a replacement immediately.

The actual content is our responsibility. We will keep everything up to date based on your requirements and what is on your website until the 5th of the month unless otherwise notified by you. We are your digital signage concierge. We handle the content because you have other things in the dealership to be concerned with.

How easy is the media player to install?

Simple. On one side you are going to connect to the Internet (Wired/Wireless), on the other side you are connecting it to the TV (HDMI). When integrating with a TV Broadcast, the setup will depend on your cable provider and system. We will be available to walk you through the setup if needed.

How many systems do I need?

You can save money by tying systems together with an HDMI splitter. This is great for service drives where the same thing will show on every screen. This does not work well with TV Integration because every TV will show the same thing -- including the TV station.

What happens if I lose Internet?

The content is cached (backed-up) locally on the media player. Although the system cannot be updated without Internet, it will not go blank. Certain pieces of content are "dynamic" meaning that it is not cached. Such areas as the news tickers and weather need connectivity to be accurate and show data. Once connectivity is restored, these areas will automatically populate.

We use two independent monitoring systems. Although you probably know when your internet isn't working, we will may still call you if it's down for an extended amount of time.

What are the specifications of the media player?

We use a variety of players based on your needs. Here are some basics:

In general, we are a signage company. Part of doing business means that we do have customized hardware that is needed for our systems to function. By limiting our hardware offerings, we can ensure proper support for our systems and quick replacement should there be an issue.

What is the warranty on the media player?

As long as you are using our service, we will provide technical support for the media player via phone and if replacement is needed, we will send one out to replace the one you send us. As long as there isn't any physical damage or misuse of the system, everything is 100% covered.

If service is discontinued, the warranty of the media player is voided except by the independent manufacturers.

Where do the news feeds come from?

News feeds are provided from several sources across the Internet. We offer choices of 20 different news feeds. In general, we rotate through Top News, Sports and Entertainment as our standard protocol.

How can I get Twitter / DealerRater on the ticker?

As of November 2011, this is a new feature that we are very excited about. The Twitter feature allows you to control content on the screen "on the fly" at any time. Using internal tools, we integrate the RSS feeds from these providers to match the screen. If you are interested in this, please contact us. There is no additional charge for this setup, but there are many variables that need to be set and considered.

Can the ticker change?

YES! By default, we set the ticker to rotated every 15 minutes. This provides fresh content for your customers who are in the dealership. Fresh content keeps eyes on the screen - where your marketing and advertisements are. We can even integrate between Twitter, News, DealersRater and more. Just let us know.

How do we change the ads?

Actually, most of the ads -- Service Specials, Finance Specials, and more -- are updated automatically by our offices between the 1st and 5th of the month. If you want to add/change a specific message, just email us. We can also work with your marketing department and provide them with the specifications so you can have consistency across all your artwork.

Where does the content come from?

We create a lot of generic content from corporate asset information. We make it both informative and easy to read. Other content comes from the Internet, both your website and your franchise website.

What type of information can we put on the screen?

The screens handle almost any digital format from images to videos to animations. We can provide you with the specific sizes for your profile and recommend certain content that you may already have in your dealership to put on the screen. We are here to help.

Some ideas - videos of community outreach, special events, owner messages, vehicle walk-throughs

Word of advice - the shorter the video the better. If you lose a customer's attention due to a video that is too long, it will be harder to get them back to focus on the screen. Smaller clips are better then long stories.

How does TV Integration work?

Instead of setting the output from your set-top box to go to the TV, it goes to the Media Player. In some cases, we split off the sound with separate cables to ensure that everything is sync'd together. Part of the agreement is a Television Integration Questionnaire that will address most concerns and make installation seamless.

Why do you use Live TV instead of Pre-Recorded Content?

Our research indicated that customers don't want to watch sitcom clips, pre-canned entertainment news, and recorded information. Instead, they want today's shows, news, sports. Our research showed 85% of people would rather have live TV over pre-recorded shows.

Will my competitors ads show?

Yes! And if you advertise on TV, so will yours. And when that customer was in their house every day before they came in to your dealership, they saw your competitors ads there too. While your competitor is showing ads, they will see your marketing messages, including your branding on what makes your dealership different -- AT THE SAME TIME.

Your customers already chose your dealership -- that's why they are there! Seeing your competitor's ads shouldn't concern you as you have the best dealership with the best service and you are letting your customers know that every chance you get through digital signage and great customer service!

How big will the actual TV be?

The TV Broadcast size will depend on the profile and actual size of the screen. A 42" TV may have the equivalent of a 32" monitor on certain profiles. On other profiles, it may be smaller.

TV Integration is a great way to keep your customer's attention on the screen. People watch TV -- a lot of TV. Regardless of what is on the TV, you will grab their attention, and then the Dealership Marketing information, the news ticker and other information on the screen will keep them focused.

There are so many signs in the standard dealership. By mixing live television with your message, you can't miss. Marketing is a contact sport -- you need to contact your customer as many ways as possible. Brochures, signs, digital and integration.

TELEVISION INTEGRATION NOTES

Video: While the media player was tested with many set-top boxes, the technology is constantly changing. Our system supports HDMI, Composite, Component and COAX inputs. Once installed, settings on the set-top box may need adjusting to maximize the screen image and sound.
